Make a scented DIY Oil Candle Lamp using pretty botanicals and light olive oil. For gift giving the floating wick is placed on the lid until use. This is another “Magic Oil Lamp” because you just add more oil after using.
DIY Bandits Oil is made from 5 essential oils and is similar to “Thieves® Oil ”. But the makers of Thieves® Oil have sent cease and desist letters to the bloggers who used that name.
The legend of Thieves® Oil is that in 15th century France, 4 thieves made a special scented blend of the essential oils so they could safely rob people who were dead and dying of the plague. The essential oils were clove bud, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and eucalyptus.
There are many claims about what Thieves Oil can do, but it must smell wonderful. From Humblebee & Me:
These five oils combine to create an essential oil blend that is strongly antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antifungal, and antiviral. They also smell surprisingly nice when blended together, though in a very camphorous, clean way.
“Mix your essential oils into a base: I recommend jojoba oil as your carrier oil because it has a longer shelf life. Be sure that your essential oil does not come pre-mixed into a carrier oil as many do.
Then, in a ½ ounce amber glass bottle, mix your carrier oil and essential oils together. For every ¾ teaspoon of jojoba oil, add anywhere between 30-40 drops of essential oil per scent. The amount of essential oil drops can vary depending on how memorable or subtle you’d like it to be. Start small, and you can always add more oils after your concoction has had a chance to mellow.
Keep them in cool, dark places as heat can alter the color and scent of the perfume.”
