So the bottom line on strength for the mostly common clay brands is:
STRONG: Premo, Kato, Cernit, SuperSculpey Firm
MEDIUM (probably): FimoClassic… then FimoSoft, Studio by Sculpey
WEAK: Sculpey (weakest), SuperSculpey, SculpeyIII
Clair Wallis gave permission to Malaysia Clay Art to post her easy “knit” reverse stocking stitch with larger photos. This is the same technique used in the heart above.
For a much easier and simple technique of twisting 2 strands of polymer clay together and then lining up the finished braid with another – check out Creator’s Joy tutorial here. For an under 2 minute excellent video on faux knit polymer clay using twisted strands of clay go here.
There is also a tutorial from Maria Belkomor on adding polymer clay bails to the back of her jewelry here (this link tells how she finishes the top of her knitted polymer clay jewelry). The direct link is here but I couldn’t translate from Russian to English – but the photos alone are enough.
